Dr. David L. Benson, former CEO of Benson Seed Research, LLC announces the creation of a new and innovative, Independent corn Research Company named Cornhusker Hybrids, LLC. The company’s World Headquarters are located in the North Loup River valley in central Nebraska near Ord. This new research organization can now offer the following specialized and personalized services to the International Corn Seed industry:
CONSULTING– Are you trying to grow, but wary of additional employees and budget shortfalls? We can fill gaps in your research support efforts by training employees, reviewing existing breeding projects and testing programs, interpreting data and data trends, and designing product advancement and placement strategies and much more.
CORN BREEDING- Do you have more breeding projects than you have the time or well trained employees to plant, pollinate, or harvest? We can handle most any sized corn project from contracting your entire nursery program, to increasing inbred lines, creating hybrid seed stocks in either hand or isolated crossing blocks, selfing segregating populations, creating synthetic populations, and taking notes or flowering data on your inbreds or hybrids.
INBRED LINES - Concerned about genetic diversity? Worried about the concentration of the world’s corn genetic stocks in the hands of a few Seed Conglomerates? Enter into an MTA or licensing agreement with us. We have been conducting corn breeding operations since 2001 and now can offer to the industry promising inbred lines with commercial caliber utility. These 104 – 111 relative maturity lines have been strongly selected for high grain yield while being certain to maintain well above average levels of drought and wind stress tolerance. These inbreds can be considered an excellent source of drought tolerant and wind tolerant alleles or genes per se.
SEED PRODUCTION - Could your inbred and hybrid breeding projects benefit from the eyes and talents of a proven corn breeder and line developer? Do you appreciate attention to detail at planting, detasseling, and harvest time? We specialize in growing small inbred increase and pilot hybrid production fields from 0.1 to 5 acres in size.
CORN TESTING - Do you have more plots to evaluate than personnel and combines to plant and harvest them? Do you need a Western Corn Belt location? Is green snap a concern in your product lineup? We have two corn testing locations in Nebraska where we grow every conceivable plot type from two and four row small plots, to four and eight row mini-strip plots. One location is a high yield only location under a center pivot, the second location is gravity irrigated with capabilities for high yield, limited irrigation, and dryland growing conditions in the same field.
TRANSGENIC TESTING- are you tired of excessive paperwork, exhaustive protocols, unrealistic isolation distances, crop destruction, and never ending USDA and third party inspections? Let us reduce your stress level. We have been conducting all types and sizes of transgenic breeding and performance testing experiments since 2002, and we currently are specialists in the design and execution of drought stress trials and other complex experiments.
