In 2006 Cornhusker Hybrids, LLC was begun to provide a commercial outlet for the corn inbreds and hybrids developed by the Benson family sister companies Great Plains Genetics, LLC and Benson Seed Research, LLC. In 2010 we have decided to promote one company and one brand; Cornhusker Hybrids, LLC. Cornhusker Hybrids, LLC will have two divisions, a retail corn division marketing “Big Cob” hybrids, and a research division providing seedsman the contract research services of corn breeding, corn testing that’s focused on drought and wind tolerance, corn seed production, and Corn transgenic testing of all types to include Water Use Efficiency trials.
This dynamic and exciting new and improved company Cornhusker Hybrids, LLC is located near Burwell in North Central Nebraska. The short term goal of the seed division is to establish our corn brand “Big Cob” in North Central and Western Nebraska. The five year seed division plan calls for this brand to capture 10% of the corn seed sales in this region. The mission of the research division has two components: First, we will provide our exceptional value in corn research services focused on corn breeding and corn transgenic and conventional drought and wind tolerance trials to the seed industry. Second, we will provide the research and seed production support that “Big Cob” hybrids needs for it to be able to provide Nebraska corn growers the highest yielding and greatest defensive hybrid lineup in the state by 2014.
2010 is an exciting time in the evolution of the Benson Family companies. Cornhusker Hybrids, LLC is prepared to meet and exceed the research support expectations of our customers in our specialty of Corn drought and wind tolerance trials. Our corn brand “Big Cob” is poised to become the market leader and a household name throughout the state of Nebraska. We welcome Nebraska corn growers as customers and fans as we compete head to head and win for them against the corporate giants Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Monsanto, Syngenta, and Dow AgroSciences.
I look forward to seeing you in the corn field.
